Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have recently been observed to manipulate customer internet speeds, including throttling and blocking access, potentially due to subscriber migration to streaming services.

A highly effective solution involves utilizing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to mask the IP address of your streaming device from your ISP. This prevents them from interfering with your device's performance. The setup process typically takes around 10 minutes and can be done at no cost. ProtonVPN.com is a recommended service. For instance, a client using AT&T experienced connectivity issues during setup. By temporarily connecting their Firestick to my mobile hotspot, the device functioned correctly. However, upon switching back to their AT&T internet, the issue reappeared. After implementing a VPN, the client's service was restored and has been operating without problems. This illustrates one of the many methods ISPs may employ to manipulate internet access..

Important Note: Sometimes maintenance might be underway, which can cause certain channels, sections, or even the entire app to go temporarily offline. This is just part of how things work in this business. We are only talking a price increase of $15 more a month .50 cents a day for piece of mind. (If you’re not patient, it’s a good idea to have at least two services or apps, so during these interruptions, you can switch over and avoid missing anything.) If only one or two channels are down, it’s probably an issue on the streaming provider’s side. At some point, though the timing is unclear, Amazon will release new operating software called Vega, which is currently Android-based. This will only affect new Firesticks, meaning streaming apps will not be compatible with them. At the moment, it's uncertain if older Firesticks will receive updates, but we do know that Fire TVs will not be updated.

If older Firesticks do get updated, potential alternatives include a promising new Google streaming device we are testing, other Android streaming devices, Fire TVs (which reportedly won't have their OS updated), or streaming directly on a Smart TV by downloading the Smart TV's streaming app (not the best option, but functional).

On Wednesday,09/17 Hive implemented significant security updates for stability, which required changing the server's DNS address. This means that when you try to load Hive now, it will look for the old server address, but this issue can be resolved. This affects all version of Hive. Some may not need to fix if has already been re-routed to new server.
